Thread regarding Raytheon Co. layoffs

Those who stay will be in trouble

People are going to leave the company. They are gonna drop like flies. Then those remaining will get stuck with their jobs get stressed out and leave. It is not going to be fun

This is exactly what's going to happen. Those of us who can't leave for one reason or another will be stuck with a double workload for the same pay. Then some more will find a way to leave and it will only get worse for those left behind. Until there's nobody left behind. At least nobody who matters and knows how to do things around here. I don't see a bright future for this place.

Waterloo had useless turds at the executive level and in key areas like systems and software. R&D was pretty much ended after the 1990s and they closed in 2017.

The defunct Waterloo radar factory was run into the ground in a similar manner.

I heard they were closing buildings to reduce their footprint. Earlier post said exec's were in TX touring buildings to see which ones can be combined and/eliminated. A few UTC buildings in San Diego are already gone. In CA wouldn't be surprised if Fullerton and Goleta are next. With all this space in El Segundo now due to remote just makes sense to combine into one location.

Why would they want to ruin certain locations? It’s much better for PR if you close a plant because they weren’t meeting quality/delivery times. If they have to move work, close a building, cut down to a skeleton crew, it’s easier to explain to anyone who would ask why (news, shareholders, etc.). Speaking from what I’ve seen with my own eyes, the facility I work in has about 1/2 of the workforce are people who are within 3 months to a year to retire, and the other 1/2 is MOSTLY people who can’t do their job, won’t do their job or do it and do a terrible job at it. Nobody gets fired for repeatedly making mistakes, calling in when out of PTO, doing absolutely nothing all day long, I could go on and on. Bottom line is nobody is held accountable and instead of being concerned with quality all they want is everyone to go faster. Now what happens when you do something poorly at a normal pace and then try and go faster without improving on quality? You make junk. Why else would they condone what is going on and why else would they be concerned with speed not quality? If they let the facility run into the ground it’s really easy to explain why they have to move or close the building. It’s all a game.

Why are "THEY" trying to sabotage and ruin certain locations?

I heard that#==%:#@ and that if you dont by the @#$% then you will either be @÷/_ or %/^^=$ so I dont know which is worst. Also pay will be@<=%:;? by 40% or more unless you !×4%$#&. But if you do $=@& then the company will be forced to $&%# and there is nothing you can do about it. This is just total @#$% and I will not stand for it any longer!

Just wanted to touch on what the guy posted are the gal posted about the 50s to 60s and not be in the bulk of the work force let’s look at it outside of Raytheon let’s look at it like the baby boomers hefty number of people are going to be retirement age as certain time it’s going to affect a lot of things across-the-board it’s going to affect a sudden axis of the majority of your workers as well as you’re going to have to pay those people I know I read something about the pensions merging with United technologies and Raytheon been in the billions Raytheon at 73% coverage of pensions and I think United technologies was at 95% but let’s imagine that there are people at our retirement age all at the same time you’re gonna Cassian you’re gonna have to start paying all that money out to a company that’s already cash strapped in troubled how is that gonna work would make sense that they would want those people to leave prior to retirement I know that’s totally illegal but is that possibly what could be going on and how Knute just walk out without a pension how can they survive that’s like their retirement I’m sure most of them didn’t save otherwise

This is for the entire company not just the Rsytheon part. I wonder how PW and Collins feel about the mandate and the other changes.

It's like Greg Hayes is always thinking: What else can I do to make employees leave the company?!!

  • > 401k, move it from Fidelity to Alight (that should do it!)
  • > Health Coverage Premiums, add your salary as one of the inputs (that should do it!)
  • > Health Provider, change it from UHC to BCBS (that should do it!)
  • > Impose Vax on Everyone (that should do it!)

"Oh no...so many leaving...and we're trying to ramp up badly...I don't understand..."

Yes, because if the shot. In case you haven’t noticed, most of the current workforce is late 50’s to late 60’s. When I say most I mean bulk, not the entire workforce obviously. Most of them (at least at my building) are planning to retire this year. There are at least a dozen that I know of that are going to quit over it that aren’t of age to retire yet. I have no idea what they’ll do but at least they’re not being bullied or coerced into doing something that the company won’t even fu----g pay you to be out for if you get side effects.

Why are people going to leave? Because of the shot? Almost all employers require the shot now. So just retire if you can otherwise good luck.

I read something, can’t remember if it was here or somewhere else but there are so many things at play that only a handful of people know about. When you look at the steps being taken, whether it’s regarding the shot, CRT, management, work flow etc. you and many others of us look at it and go, that doesn’t make sense, that’s going to make things worse/harder for the employees. It’s going to make people unhappy, it’s going to make the job more difficult to attain the same result we have now, let alone make it “improved” why would they do this X thing. It’s so obvious it’s a bad idea. Well, when you stop looking at it like they’re trying to make things “better, more productive, more inclusive” and you start looking at it like they’re trying to sabotage or ruin certain locations, or the business as a whole, then the things they’re doing make perfect sense. If your goal is to ruin this company or any specific location, then everything they’re doing is perfectly correct and when you start looking at it like that then everything makes sense. Now someone will ask how they benefit from this and I don’t have an answer but it’s obvious that they are NOT trying to make things better, more productive. Once you see that everything will be a little easier to understand.
