They also think they are leaders in carbon capture technology and climate change mitigation but they will soon be surpassed by the big boys. Why cant they just stick to what they are good at(medium to large independent working in international and US domestic )and not try to move outside their lane. We would have been better off putting that money that was wasted on APC into multiple other opportunities.

VH's fat head is bigger than COP. Oxy, the leader in the Permian, haha, not.
European oil companies are getting pressured by their respective home countries to reduce their carbon emissions. Exiting onshore US is a step toward that goal. I can't see them reversing course and expanding their GOM footprint.
Any chance Shell buys the GOM assets with the money?
What are the chances Shell takes the money and buys Oxy GOM assets? Any jet sightings? Could be a three way win, win, win
In terms of oil production, COP is now 20% bigger than Oxy.
Who knows but Conoco paid about a 1/4 the price per acre, compared to Oxy.
I know which is bigger in fatalities and incompetent disasters.....
