76 cargo container ships out in the port of LA waiting to offload thousands of containers……sounds like a problem.

They should change the way they do pre employment dr-g tests .so they can have a bigger pool of job seekers. Sooner or later they will have to loosen their ca--abis testing if it ever becomes federally legal. No one is saying come to work under the influence. But what you do on your time should not be of concern to railroad. Just like alcohol in the workplace. Keep any kind of ca--abis or alcohol use at home but also dont punish an employee for what they do at home if they can come to work sober.

They brought enough furloughed employees back in san Antonio with no place to go that they could borrow them out to locations where they need them .

Why would anyone want to work for that place with all the bad reviews? That's the first thing I did when I left that dump is look at the reviews of the places I was applying.

I've heard about the semi-serious hiring being done at a few locations. Why do the hiring now? Wouldn't it have just been easier to keep enough people on hand in case things started getting out of hand like EVERYONE predicted it would? Hey Fritzy, did you get that?

Maybe they shouldn’t have done all the layoffs. I have a feeling this is going to be a common problem all across Union Pacific. The sad thing is that this was self inflicted.

Nobody in there right mind would hire on with UP now, especially with the attendance policy and the fact that new hires will have January vacation forever, so essentially only a tiny amount of PL days for entire year, while working on their rest everyday, until they're furloughed, and eventually their jobs eliminated entirely.
