Thread regarding Raytheon Co. layoffs

Will you get the shot or be fired?

Are you planning to get the shot by the November 15 deadline, or will you let yourself be fired?

Raytheon was backed into a corner by President Biden so they have no choice but to mandate all employees be vaccinated.

Me...? I'll get the jab.

Is Nov 15 the date you must be vaccinated (at least 1 shot) or the date you must respond to the survey and indicate vaccinated, non vaccinated, etc.? I thought I heard Jan 1 as the date you must be fully vaccinated. But are they actually going to fire people that are not fully vaccinated or did not respond to the survey or just put them on leave without pay?

I pick "get fired". If I "get fired", I'll just go thru months and months of cosmetic surgeries to replace my warped skin. But if I "get shot", then I may die because of bullet fragments that cannot be removed (not to mention losing too much blood).

I have always planned for a religious exemption. After some research, I've found that the consensus opinion of those in law, state that an employer cannot violate the civil rights act of 1964. The real question is can they accommodate you or not. For instance if you file a religious exemption and you've already been working from home then an accommodation is not only reasonable it's completely protected by the law. The language is legalese around situations that can't be accommodated I would imagine this would encompass somebody who works on the factory floor who can't work from home and has to be on site next to other people in close proximity. However, I would imagine that the bargaining agreement between the unions and RTX is far from settled.

Filing a religious exemption. We have to stand up for our kids and future generations. Can live with myself for violating my conscience and not standing for my kids and others freedom

Just tell you manager that you identify as vaccinated.

If women can identify as men, and men can identify as women, is saying that you identify as vaccinated any less ridiculous?

Now they have the directors flowing down the requirements? Since when do managers and leadership, in general, ask employees about their specific medical info? This should be handled by HR. I will not take part in this silly game on Oct 15th. I'm just waiting for my manager to ask me, " why haven't you completed the questionnaire?" To which I will reply, "How do you know I haven't, unless of course you are tracking our medical information via personally identifiable information..." If you get 95% response do you really need to ask the other 5% where they stand?

In the most recent email they said you “may” use PTO to deal with side effects from vaccine. Which is Fu&#ing hilarious to me. You have no choice besides to get the shot and they won’t pay you if you have any issues. How else can they show you they don’t care about you.

I think RTX may take the approach that Southwest airlines is taking; to ensure they employees are vaccinated . prior to the mandate Southwest would allow employees to get up to 10 days paid after being exposed to Covid . after the mandate they have to take their sick pay or just not show up to work and I’m guessing after too any of those days you could be termination. There are just so many ways around this to make people get vaccinated it’s all the bottom line is a dollar if you can’t pay your bills pay your rent are you going to get the shot

I got a question what happens when we show up to work and there’s a vaccine station as we walk in. then they’ll have a record of who they vaccinated. what are you going to say I was already vaccinated??????? Will they say bring us proof I mean “do you think that could be a thing ???????

There are many individuals who are concerned about their rights to be an antivaxer. There have been communications on this site both positive and negative reactions (no offense to anyone) but how far is Raytheon going to go with this if they are going to be fined for each unvaccinated employee? Are they going to issue employees fines instead or initiate a vax program 🤔. Makes me wonder how this is going to turn out.........comments?

RTX stated that they will abide by state laws and that if your state has outlawed mandated vaccination then you must test weekly .... If your state allows mandates then you have no option to be tested weekly, because "the jab works." Still masking, distancing, etc. They claim they don't violate HIPPA by requesting your jab status. That's true but only because they are not violating doctor patient confidentiality. They failed to mention that you can tell them to acquire that information from your physician. Your physician then will not be allowed to disclose that information due to HIPAA. Unless of course you sign a release. Lots of vague statements in the FAQs. I wonder how they're going to determine the case by case basis for exemptions? I would do nothing until the unions sort stuff out. This is definitely not part of their CBA, and if Union employees don't have to get it, then nobody will.

I am curious how this will go but if you want to quit then another company will also require vaccines. CEO is Uber liberal and it shows and many coworkers feel this is major overreach. I got the J&J because it is like a flu shot not the mRNA technology. I would rather have my choices and ironically all the people in line only wanted the J&J based on long standing virus design that has been used in the past. I am not happy to be forced so if the booster are demanded, I will move along.

I am neither for nor against vaccination. I am more concerned about the consequences of enforcing this. Examples...Lawsuits, losing irreplaceable employees, employees choosing to retire may just retire, state-vs-federal fighting, and the implementation logistics of enforcing this.
