No, a gofer is very specifically a low ranking person with little or no say. Typical Baker manager, likes to pretend he’s on the same level and as hard done to as the one’s doing the work.
You’re confusing gofer with gopher - a subterranean rat. Now that is a Baker manager.

Reflecting on how you feel or treat someone that you yourselves see as a gofer, might shed some light as to how others see you all as gofers.
In the prior context, gofers are expendable.

Amongst the labouring classes a “gofer” is a lowly minion who is charged with simple, menial tasks. Such as, being sent to retrieve tools or items from locations that are remote from the current work site.
One might expect to say to such a person “hey! Barry! See the store? Go for a spanner, I’ve broke this one”. Hence the name “gofer” representing “go for” in common parlance and vernacular.
Obviously, one would not expect many at Baker to understand that reference on account of the abundance of MBA educated “chiefs”, and the paucity of time-served “Indians”. Don’t you know?
Take the money and go. There's zero point trying to get a sweeter deal as it won't be happening. Its a business and they're wanting the minimum outlay which complies with employment law. All this moaning by the so called 'flocked bubbles' in all other posts is useless and childish.
