Thread regarding Raytheon Co. layoffs

Status of mandate

Has the company made a statement on the vaccine mandate or a timeline in when they will require all workers to get the shot? I have yet to see anything in my email.

You’re all foolish. Get the shot and get over it.

People really aren't seeing the big picture here. RTX wants you to input your vax status into a Database managed by a 3rd party, and they refuse to answer any logical questions about it. This data will be compiled along with the other subs, primes etc. And handed over to the government. You will never be able to work in industry or possibly anywhere without the jab. Sure you can get an exemption. How long do you think that will last? Longer than the, get a jab and you won't have to wear a mask debacle? Here's the deal... If half the people on the production floor walk out, it will cost a he-l of a lot more than $14k a piece. When we start missing contract deliverables that's when it will come to a head. The people most afraid have the most power, will they act on it?

Look whatever your layman lawyering tells you, he tied it into government contracts (read the actual presidential order). Anything that runs under a federal government contract (at a minimum future contract and contract renewals) will demand vaccinations period end of the story. You can run that past the Supreme Court, but by the time they adjudicate you'll be on the unemployment line. So in short if you're so he-l-bent on not getting shot, go find a job that is not tied to a government contract.

Who is having the all hans? Legacy RTN or UTC?

Also I am confused about the dates. Oct 16 is the date firings will occur if you are not vaccinated or the date you have to respond to that survey? What is the Nov date and the Jan 1 22 date?

Biden does not have the authority to require a vaccination mandate!
That is what we all should be standing up against!! This country is not controlled by one man, regardless of who is President. Stand up for your rights! Even if you are for the vaccination, one day it will be something you are against, and it will be too late.

One of the RTX senior leaders is having an all hands meeting on 10/19. I plan to ask how many employees were terminated in 10/16 and how many terminations are they planning for on 1/2/22 ? This is nuts. The new RTX has caved to the new left, and is now more focused on social commentary than anything else. Sad.

I'm personally refusing to provide any information into the agile point system. HR has admitted that managers are receiving your status in a report attached to your name. Do I get my managers medical information as well? They refuse to answer anything about agile point, what they are collecting, or where it is going. That is sensitive data, they literally just provided training on this. I hope more people stand up to it. I have hired an attorney. They are saying because you are an at-will employee that they can change the conditions of employment. However, that is not a voluntary resignation. At will just allows either party to terminate the employment without any cause. I have not received legal advice yet on whether this is a qualified condition of employment they can just change on the fly especially for remote workers.

They also just announced that anyone who chooses not disclose their vaccination status by 10/15/21 will be treated as a resignation and employment will be terminated. Will be interesting to see that number on 10/16/21

100% remote workers still have to get vaccinated. But it’s not even a vaccine. A vaccine is a one time deal that eradicates a disease. Think smallpox, measles, etc. This is a shot that may or may not lessen symptoms when you get the virus. Vaccines don’t have to be taken every 6 months. Covid SHOT does and is still not 100% effective.
They should not mandate something that won’t prevent a virus/disease.
They most definitely shouldn’t mandate something for people working from home. It’s ridiculous that they don’t allow Testing for those just coming in every once in a while.
RTX doesn’t even have sick pay for anyone who has an adverse reaction to the shot. They make you use PTO or FMLA

So I understand that if your state is in favor of mask mandates then you have to get vaccinated.

But if your state is against vaccine mandates then you don’t have to get vaccinated and can do weekly covid test

Yea, I agree this is not a communist country.
And when they figure out they only have a few jet engine mechanics left to build their jet engines at each and every plant sites around the world and how bad it hurt their business and pi-s off all the stock holders it will be to late to call all their workers back.
Between all that and the class action law suits bc were not given a choice to test weekly for covid 19 or a vaccine. This company will surely regret strong arming their employees to get vaccinated or loose your job.

This isn't a communist country. Why doesn't RTX offer the choice of taking Vaccine or Weekly Testing? The executive order says thats the choice.

I think RTX is going to take the approach that Southwest airlines is taking to mandate the vaccine prior to the Biden ministration executive order of companies over 100 employees or Federal companies . Southwest would pay their employees for the 10 day quarantine. After being exposed to Covid now with the mandate in order those employees are gonna have to take sick days or they gonna go unpaid and I’m imagining if they are sick and are staying home they’re gonna miss days and I’m guessing that would be reason for termination: there is going to be numerous ways to get a workhorse vaccinated and if you think about it it’s always a bottom line is the dollar if you start losing money not being able to pay your bills you’re going to get that shot I think that’s what they’re thinking

Does matter if you are remote, hybrid, or on-site, hourly or salary. If you live in US or US territories you have until Jan 1 to prove you have it or disciplinary action will be taken unless you’re the strict exemption criteria. They will be looking for fake vaccination records as well, which will result in termination if caught, because it’s a federal violation. It’s pretty black and white. Everyone has until October 15th to disclose if they have it already or not using online form. For those on site, the sooner we all get this over with, the sooner we can take off our masks and stop suffering all day on the shop doors. Sometimes you gotta be a team player. If you don’t want to be part of the team, maybe Jiffy Lube or Town Fair Tire will hire you. All defense contractors are going to have to comply with this so it doesn’t matter which one you go to. It’s part of the new hire prerequisites now.

It's an implementation nightmare. Let's say I'm 100% remote and show up to the office once in a while, and I don't get vaccinated. Are they going to detect and deactivate my badge to not be able to enter any site? Or are they going to tie up resources and have 24/7 personnel at every single site? Will my badge be activated if I were to come into site at 3AM (or the weekends) when it's a ghost town? Will RTX become bankrupt like Enron when RTX is swimming up to their necks in lawsuits (by individuals, Texas state, etc.) resulting in more layoffs because these overwhelming lawsuits could be a "money drain" on the company. THERE IS "THEORY", BUT THEN THERE ARE "REALITY" AND "IMPLEMENTATION" (just look at the mess happening in school districts).

If you are salaried and working from home I guess you can escape the shot if you have no plans to ever go back into the office or travel. But I know lots of people want to travel just for meetings (zoom not good enough) so they are stuck. I guess hourly must get the shot since they have to be on site and almost all salaried ard ag home.

"And so, as we think about next steps, how do we, as a company, make sure that our folks stay safe? How do we make sure that you can keep your friends and family safe from this awful, awful disease? And the answer is quite simple. It is about getting the vaccination. We have been talking for a long time, I know I have, really since vaccines became available early this year, with the need for everybody at RTX to get a vaccination. And that's never more apparent than it is today.

This past week, the Biden Administration issued an executive order requiring all federal government contractors to have had all of their employees vaccinated. We're going to align with that executive order, and we're going to be asking every single employee at Raytheon Technologies to get a vaccine in the coming months. We don't have the exact timing down. We're still waiting for details on that, but what I would expect, everybody within RTX should be vaccinated. Again, this is going to be subject to national laws. There are some places around the world where we can't mandate. There are certain circumstances, I understand, for medical reasons or religious reasons, people won't take a vaccine. That's okay.

But we still need to make sure that everybody who is eligible, gets vaccinated. And it's going to be that simple. We all need to get the jab. It is the only way we can stop this disease, it's the only way we can keep all of us safe. You, your family, your friends, your fellow employees, everyone that you come in contact with. So, I know, again, not everyone will appreciate this, but I hope you understand this is not about the individual, this is about the society, this is about all of us working together for the common good.

I thank you for your attention to this. Again, they'll be a lot more detail coming out. We'll make sure that we have vaccinations available, locally. We'll roll those out by operation, but again, I urge you please, if you have not been vaccinated, please get the shot. We're also, of course, going to ask you all to tell us whether or not you've been vaccinated so that we have a good idea of how many people have had the vaccine, and how many people we still have to go. So, two steps really here. We're going to ask you to disclose your vaccination status. Again, in those places where we can ask that question. And then, we're going to ask you to get the vaccination.

So, thank you again. I appreciate everybody's compliance with this, and I wish you all a great week. Stay healthy and stay safe. Thanks.

from Greg Hayes, Raytheon CEO"

COVID-19 Vaccination and Disclosure Requirements

  1. Why is the company taking this action?

COVID-19 continues to significantly impact our communities, families and employees. With employee health and safety as our top priority, Raytheon Technologies is taking action to address the increased risk and uncertainty COVID variants pose in the workplace.

  1. Who is required to be vaccinated?

Full COVID-19 vaccination is required for all U.S. employees and onsite contractors. Effective dates for this requirement are:
• Effective immediately, any employee traveling for company business must be fully vaccinated prior to traveling.
• By Nov. 15, 2021,
o All company executives and new hires must be fully vaccinated.
o Contractors and employees who have worked from home either full or part time during the pandemic must be fully vaccinated in order to enter a company facility.
• By Jan. 1, 2022, all U.S. employees, regardless of role type, must be fully vaccinated. Some employees may be required to be fully vaccinated sooner based on customer requirements and/or Federal guidance.
Fully vaccinated means two weeks have passed since a single-shot vaccine or the second dose of a two-shot vaccine. Once the FDA requirements are defined for COVID-19 vaccine booster shots, employees will be required to obtain the shots at the recommended interval to be considered fully vaccinated. Requests for medical or religious exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  1. Is this legal?

Yes. U.S. employers are legally entitled to collect vaccination-related information, including vaccination status, and may require vaccination to control risk of transmission during a pandemic. The company’s actions also align with the White House’s recent efforts to bolster
