Skills erosion...

Only now that I have started to look for a new job more actively do I notice all the negative effects of the long-term unemployed here. What worries me the most is skill obsolescence. I know it’s mostly my fault because I didn’t think about marketability in time but GE wasn't really that stimulating of a workplace either. I think I'm going to have to work hard to get a better job especially because of that. How many more think that their chance of getting a new job has significantly decreased because their skills have been eroded at GE?

Manufacturing industry will hire and train conductive to their product based upon previous manufacturing experience. When a company offers education reimbursement/benefits that in itself is motivation for anyone to increase their knowledge and/or skills. Tough working and going to school at the same time, however this temporary situation always pays off in the end.
