I’m ready to fight! My points are to 0 in two days. I’ll go as deep as I need. Rather be fired then get the vax.

I'm a railroader's wife (more than 20 years in). How many railroaders in Texas are willing to stand with the Union and fight this. We have the Governor's backing! If we don't fight this, we won't only lose jobs, we lose the pensions you guys have worked your butts off to earn! I have seen the physical toll railroading has taken on my husband. If I can't get the stains out of his clothes every day, imagine what he's been breathing in all these years. I'm not willing to take the chance of introducing another questionable substance into his body to deal with in his "golden years". Yes, the union has stated they will hold the RRs accountable, but I'd rather have my husband's health than all the money in the world.

UP complying with vaccine mandate as of yesterday. Have till Dec 8th. They pat themselves on the back for all their safety measures put in place as reason railroad keeps rolling. Truth be told, NO ONE! In the Pacific Northwest wearing masks! Haven’t been for the past year and a half. Even local managers don’t comply. Complete BS!

Is the union bought and paid for or when do we start laying off?

How many will take the jab and later get laid off? Now they have to live with the fact they took the jab because they were blackmailed into doing so. What if there is a reaction to the shot down the road, laid off or not, are they gonna pay for damages. NOPE!

I heard we find out tomorrow and it sounds like I'll be walking out alone where I'm at. I hope this cripples UP. Of course what does corporate care, they've already gotten ridiculously wealthy off progressive railroading. They could just sell. Might be their plan anyway.

They are going to loose a lot of employees in the Southern region. Signal employees are starting to band together even the vaccinated employees are going to stand with us . Got rumors of MOW employee’s doing the same .

Don’t quit. Let them fire you. So you will have legal recourse later. Also, you will get unemployment benefits.

I won't be taking it. The countries with the highest vaccination rates are the countries with the most cases right now. This is about control not health. I might lose my job but at least I'll be able to look myself in the mirror. Get your termination in writing and go work for someone who respects you.

OK so let's say they mandate the vaccine, and everyone gets the shot. Well if I remember correctly, they mandated masks for the country and people were still getting very sick or dying from the virus. The last number I remember was around 5 million dead from the virus. It probably more, but hopefully you get the idea. Now can anyone say with absolute certainty that those were all maskless people? What about the people that had the virus, that have natural antibodies in their system? Are they still required to get the shot? What's the UP going to do if and when everyone gets the shot, and the virus situation doesn't improve?? The virus is continuously mutating, and that's a fact. It's only a matter of time before the vaccine becomes ineffective against the virus. So will the UP mandate another vaccine shot? How much resistance will they be met with, if there's a second round? What will the UP do if the vaccine becomes ineffective? If you want the shot, then get the shot. If don't want it, then don't get it. If I get the virus, then so what. The only thing I can do is accept it and hope for the best. I haven't had the virus, the shot, or wore a mask. It's my body, and it's my choice. If the UP wants to step in and force medical decisions onto people, then they might have difficulty in getting people to work for them. At least I'll know when my last day will be if they mandate the vaccine. That's so much better then wondering when my last day would've been with PSR.

Don’t kid yourself. There is not enough managers to run the trains. You have to be a complete id--t to think that is even doable. There is not enough managers or contractors systemwide to pull it off. Even if they used to work for a class 1 railroad, are they current on all training required by law to have? Again people just chiming in when they really have no idea what it really takes to run the day to day operations. Either you have never worked here or you yourself have no clue what goes on around you. Probably someone that has been sitting in the glass palace thinking they have it all figured out.

A lot of contractors are Class 1 rejects or retired railroaders, so they have a basic understanding of the rules. Also, most managers are are either Class 1, 6 or 8, so again they could run trains until we get the ship uprighted. Don't kid yourself, the railroad will keep operating. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to operate the rods and levers.

I don't understand the "they'll get contractors" mentality. Especially coming from front line railroaders. Contractors can't read the therefore can't understand a timetable, a track profile, GCOR, SSI's. Contractors can't get OTA, can't find a mile post, can't find an RCL zone, nor understand what to do for an XH or a red flag. Contractors can't run a locomotive, can't fix a track indication, nor would they know what speed restriction to place on what track defect. Those who really think they can be replaced tomorrow or even next week or next month w/ a contractor I truly wonder do they themselves even know their job? Or are their co-workers doing the heavy lifting? Where are these thousands of contractors who according to you are trained, ready, and are vaccinated just waiting to come do your job 24\7?
(for less $ too)

What are you going to do, just not work anymore? All companies are going to be requiring this soon. All the talk of a mass exodus is just that…talk. If you are d-mb enough to lose a 100k job because of not getting a vaccination that you should have done anyway then maybe you should go. The unvaccinated are driving the surge in cases in the US. Until we wake up and do the right thing, not the political thing, we will never get back to normal.

How many contractors to think are out there that can operate trains? How many contractors are out there that can just walk in and dispatch any desk in the HDC? None that’s how many your just talking out your a-s to keep scaring people into doing your bidding! That’s the problem with this company. If it looks good on paper then it must be good. Nobody ever asks what the trade off is! A bunch of people that have no fu----g idea what it really takes to run the day to day operations. People will be walking away, retiring early, on top of already being short staffed, plus quarantines, vacations, laying off. Take a step back get away from all your yes men and women and take a real honest look at it.

If there isnt a up employed workforce to get the work done they will just get contractors. Either way the trains are going to roll.

I didn't say one out of five people. I said one out of five people who SAY they're going to leave... so yeah, 3-5 people might leave. I so sad.

It also wouldn’t take to me people to leave before things start to not get done that as a company we are required by law to get done. That alone would shut us down. But this company damn sure deserves it after they made all the cuts they made.

1 of every 5 is still a lot of people genius! How many people do you think it would take before things stop running? Have you even considered that?

by

Post ID: @enu+1cMmyBhD

No, you know a lot of people who SAY they plan on quitting. I'm willing to bet that the actual number will be less than 1 out of 5 who claim they will. Just like the people who were leaving the country if "Insert president name here" gets elected. Never happens, they just like hearing themselves rant.

I know a lot of people who are planning on quitting. It’s not just because of the mandate it is because this company just isn’t worth working for anymore. The bad out weighs the good.
