Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Former Nordstrom Standards.

Now that KBS does housekeeping, how does your full line store look?
Important! Please comment!
Nordstrom once had standards that set us apart.
When they replaced their housekeeping staff, and KBS arrived...
They flushed their once proud STANDARDS and their housekeeping staff down the toilet.
Let's all hope that the people who made decisions suffer the same fate as the housekeeping team!
Pull the rug out from under them.
No severance pay, or golden parachute! Out the door.
Thank you for your service.
Ba----ds!

We do not pay $30 per hour but neither did Nordstrom. The one thing you can be sure of is we will not outsource your job.

What used to set Nordstrom apart was the attention to details while keeping an eye on costs. No amount of supposed cost cutting will offset the outrageous and costly blunders upper management loves to do mostly with board approval. There may or may not be savings by outsourcing the housekeeping, HVAC, Loss Prevention etc. but like most companies that have already followed that path it is indicative of larger issues. By outsourcing noncore retail services Nordstrom joins a long line of retailers in a race to the bottom. Get ready for uncomfortable stores not able to heat or cool properly, shrinkage costs getting out of hand, stores that are dirty, filthy restrooms and employees that do not care. It is difficult for long term employees to accept the changes that turned Nordstrom from a respected retailer with a magic touch that inspired loyalty in the employees and customers to a confused upscale Macy's but those are the facts and no amount of pining for the past will change it. After Blakes passing the last wall came tumbling down and the clueless took over. Covid has acted like a catalyst to speed up what was inevitable and allow the parasites to ki-l the host.

Our store is DISGUSTING. It now has a foul odor every morning where I used to notice nothing or something pleasant. Toilets arent cleaned well.

And all of you capitalist pigs commenting that this is just a business: You clearly have NEVER worked for Nordstrom.

As other have said in this thread and previous: Nordstrom always set itself apart. Retail on paper only, because we are so much more than a department store.

@SoSad
Do you think KBS had employees sitting idle waiting to pick up a new account like Norstrom? Of course not, they had to hire new staff. Most new accounts are initially a mix of seasoned employees & newer hires. The point of outsourcing is to not have to maintain complex equipment, procure typical janitorial supplies and there is always on-call staff to cover for call-outs/vacations. It’s the year 2021, Norstrom is a business and needs to make money. They don’t have an obligation to any employee outside of what is required by the state of operations. Using the HQ in Washington, it’s an at-will state. If anyone believes the company they work for owes them anything, they are sadly mistaken.

I stand with you in full solidarity, Nordstrom janitorial bros. The preppy kids who run this place are soaked in huwhyte privilege like the meatballs at Ikea in the generous gravy. It is all so tiresome!

Nordstrom janitorial employees vs KBS who's core business is cleaning... Okay lets play.

The staff of Nordstrom janitorial employees that were just let go in our store had over 70 years of experience in cleaning.
KBS crew... No one has been with the company for more than a few years. Most are new.
All Nordstrom janitorial employees can use all of the complex equipment on hand in the store. Escalator cleaners, wood floor scrubbers, duplex, CFR.
KBS... No, they don't know how to use the equipment they just inherited.
Nordstrom janitorial employees.
ATD. Attention to detail. The Nordstrom standards. OWNERSHIP !
KBS... The most important thing is getting to the next job as quickly as possible.
This is a shutout! No contest!

Mine looks better. No staffing issues, KBS always has a full crew show up. Cleaning should be done by companies that select that to be their core business. Nordstrom needs to focus on sales, not shuffling staffing on a near-daily basis because "Nordstrom janitorial employees" want to take company-paid vacation days.

Cleaning isn’t a priority for the company! It used to be when Covid first emerged…now they don’t care even with the Delta Variant! It’s all about money now! Customers have even seen rats running around in some stores…it’s such a shame!
