Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

The huge sale of power to a French company will cost Schenectady major job loss

With the talks of selling steam and coal power segments to a French company I can see GE selling the power segment. Growth projection profits for Power over the next 3 years are almost not worth the cash cow power is. Services only makes a very small portion of profits for power. The growth projections are just projections the growth is not set in stone! So yes GE will layoff before the sale of GE power. Power has lost its steam and I am so close to retirement I can’t wait to see this place close up after the sale. See all these T Rates hit the streets crying. Von Roll all over again, Honeywell, Fort Plain and now Schenectady. These projected numbers do not include facility costs seeing how the roof leaks and has been for years. Get ready everyone knows it’s going to happen. T rates better jump ship now while the jobs are there in the local market. Building 66 and 273 are both on the chopping block. Do you think the French will keep 273 and 66 open in Schenectady? GE is not selling the Campus just the steam and gen business. This sale will generate 1.6 bill in cash and free up a lot of cash flow.

Anyone still working at GE Schenectady at this point must have no marketable skills. Whether you are a union employee, an engineer, a manager, or a director… you must have no motivation to find something better.

You people are a bunch of clowns. Clearly all ignorant hourly losers from 301. Schenectady is part of GE GAS POWER. SCHENECTADY HASN'T MADE COAL OR NUKE JOBS FOR YEARS. SCHENECTADY MAKES STEAM TURBINES FOR COMBINED CYCLE GAS POWER PLANTS AND GENERATORS FOR GAS TURBINE POWER PLANTS. You 301 re--rds don't even know what you make.

Wrong!! GE is only selling the steam turbine business in France [very small fraction], not the entire Power or steam division located in states.

They are not selling power, they are selling the steam/nuec business related to rotors/turbines. Thats it, dont try to read into what’s factually out there already. Building 66 makes parts for Gas Turbines, not connected to the business in 273. The customer for 66 is Greenville. Again, please get your facts straight before adding more bs to the rumor mill!
