Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Get off your @sses Union Reps

Our unions are a disgrace allowing the company to go several years past due on our contracts. Then when we do get our contracts finally approved, the first portion is a penny raise so the company doesn't have to pay us back pay. Get it figured out before time lapses or give us the ok to strike.

There is a reason the company always leads negotiations with the unskilled crafts first.

They use their sign off as a we---n against the skilled crafts.

Contractors have already took many RR jobs so that argument is moot. Most RR jobs will be eliminated in the next decade with technological advances, including remotely ran trains with no crews. We might as well face these facts as the handwriting is on the wall. The railroad industry will not stop until they have gotten rid of most of their workforce.

For the unions to strike that would require the full-time union employees pay to be at risk. Then they'd organize and plan a strike. But I do applaud the low seniority guys who've been furloughed and haven't come back when recalled. Those guys and those seeking employment who WON'T even consider working at UP is the next best thing to a strike. Bottom line is UP can't get enough people to perform needed work. This a problem that can potentially get worse and cause bigger problems later on. Before some defeatist manager troll claims "contractors" will replace your lazy a$$es! I recently saw a desperate mechanical manager have RJ Corman send a mechanic to try and help fix a locomotive, after 12+ hours blocking a switching lead the corman guy just gave up and left. A UP employee drove in the next morning from the next closest terminal and had it running and moving in less than 2 hours. Why couldn't the manager & contractor fix it?

Our union can’t even get our claims paid. I have 0 faith they will save the Conductors job. I’m seriously looking for a new job I would recommend others at least start looking because when this goes down they will just start axing boards and if you don’t have 25 years of seniority you’ll be laid off. If your laid off for over 1 year I believe company can remove you from roster so I’ve been told.

Our local union man is about to leave our state, then drive thru another state to get to the state where the fra is writing up stuff……meanwhile, the people that are nearby probably already told the rr to hit the road with their cheap offer.

Our Union reps (yea, like the local growler guy) reward is the same pay as it is working at home.

8 hours straight time pay and 4 hours of overtime. In other words, our local Union boy is bailing out the company. So…..

If that’s not a back room deal I don’t know what is.

The railroad union is a complete rip-off and everybody involved with it is a pos.

Why would they do that? I'm sure the big shots are in the pocketbook. Look at the arbitrator decision. Writing is on the wall. We are doomed

Hahaha. You really think you’re going to strike? How’d that 4th of July strike at North Platte work out? This is comical.
