Sears has been dying for years. But it hasn't just... died
Here we are in 2021, and there are still open stores. Is this damned company going to hang around with one or two stores on life support for decades? Has God forsaken us?

Just look at the posts. It's all Death and Dieing.
I'm surprised that 1000 people are left bothering with this cr-p.
There absolutely could be some decent lists. They could just close the rest down in 1 fell swoop, and that would be a very delicious closing list! It is much juicier when he does it all together, than this teeth pulling 1 or 2 store, lists 🍭🍾🥤

👍
Reminds me of that math class, where the teacher Told us, if a frog in a well, keeps jumping half the remaining distance to the other side, he will never reach the other side. If the distance is 1 foot, after 1 jump there'll be 1/2 foot left, after 2 jumps, 1/4 foot left, then 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64, 1/128, 1/256, etc., but never zero. That's how this is going. 2000 Kmarts became 1000, then 500, then 250, then 125, then 64, then 32, now 17, BUT NEVER FREAKING ZERO. Frustrating, but unfortunately, nothing I can do about it, as I have no way of forcing him to close the remaining few. I wish I could. It would be really nice to live in a World with zero Kmarts, or Sears but the wait continues. 🤬🤧 I think on the Sears side, we will never truly reach zero, because some Hometowns will remain, and an online presence will be there as well. On the Kmart side, we have a good chance for zero, but the fly in the ointment is Guam, & USVI. Those will be the toughest nuts to crack. 😡😠
Hate to burst your bubble, there will be no more decent closing lists given the present store count. Likely best to begin exploring new hobbies.
@2mre+1c3avnlB I Know, & that is what is so frustrating. This teeth pulling to get some decent closing lists around here. I wish he would do it all at once and get it done already.
My guess is we will continue to see these little 2-3 store closing rounds, until we get down to... I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me to still see maybe 15-20 stores still hanging around in 2022.
Whether they are listed on properties site or not, they are still valid, small-format Sears, and they do count. Just like that franchised Wendys where u buy your burgers, counts as a Wendys and is included in their counts.
Sears no longer lists Hometown stores in its Store Locator, which makes them really hard to count.
They do list the eight small-format stores that they own: Anchorage AK, Fort Collins CO, Honolulu HI, Overland Park KS, Lafayette LA, Camp Hill PA, Naranjito PR, Pharr TX.
In addition, those eight stores are listed at TransformcoProperties.com . The Hometown stores are not.
There is no good way to count Hometown stores (which are franchises) and I do not even try to do so. The 8 small-format stores that I do count (under the banners "Home and Life" and "Appliance and Mattress", plus one other in Naranjito, Puerto Rico) are company-owned.
creditors will get it closed down completely by the end of the year
@rmk+1c3avnlB That's wrong. There are more than 8 small format stores. Hundreds of Sears hometowns exist, which ate by definition, small format Sears. If you choose not to count them, that's your thing, but they still exist regardless.
For reference:
At the beginning of March 2020, there were 81 non-closing full-sized Sears stores and 44 non-closing Kmarts, total 125.
Now there are 26 non-closing full-sized Sears stores and 17 non-closing Kmarts, total 43.
(Both then and now, there are 8 small-format Sears stores. None of them have closed.)
Sears is like carbon-14, half of it decays every 5,730 years
