I agree with someone who said the company is past the point of no return. However, does it really need a return or does it need to adapt to change?
I think it needs to adapt to change. It is not worrying that there is no going back to the old, but that the company is not adapting well to the new circumstances and it seems that there is no bright future for it.

It’s not complicated, close stores, convert to distribution, stop paying for ads on TV because NO ONE WATCHES basic cable anymore... it’s all about the ad free Hulu subscriptions. Just sell online, the stores are a wreck, people urinating on clothing in fitting rooms, kids hanging out smoking in Macy’s bathrooms. Liability all over the place.
I think the posters on this thread should replace the CEO and some of the rest of the clown car. You are all smarter and would treat your employees so they are eager and inspired to do their best work as opposed to the Reign of Te---r we are currently under.
I think that Snoop Dog and Martha Stewart should team up and create a fresh "Macy's" Brand of Premium Ma------a products(or THC based edibles for those that don't like the smell or taste). A line of CBD based cosmetics as well. "Macy's" should have premium eateries with premium bar service and craft brews. Eating out and drinking out has been increasing 2-3% per year and is a favorite pastime of younger people. "Macy's" could split into an online business(may still have pickup in store) and a new separate business whose goal is to reinvent the stores. The new stores business would thus be freed from it's past and could devote itself to new and more creative selling and marketing with new and fresh products. The new "Macy's" would be less centralized and stores would reflect the character and nature of the surrounding neighborhoods. Clothing would be a much smaller part of the mix(if at all-actually not very green, maybe a customization shop). Inside the "Macy's" you might have a mini- Bazaar to give the feeling of shopping in a foreign or ancient market and to highlight products from interesting places. At night, certain sections would become adult themed entertainment with premium bar service. At this point the stores name is changed to "May Qui". Reality or Alternative Universe? Thus the duality of Macy's! May Si or May Qui?
The variant will shut down everything and hyperinflation . No will want to spend money on cloths when eating is more important.. hence that is why they are setting up the new " pilot program" this will just make the associates run the show and get rid of high price useless managers who been there too long.. it will either happen in aug/sept or Feb 2022
