Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

When did you decide to leave Q?

The only thing I'm currently happy with at Q is payment. I started looking for another job and got two offers. I'm still debating whether it is worth accepting a new job that is much more challenging but paid less. My problem here is that the job has become a very boring routine which doesn't give me any challenges anymore.

what amazes me are all the ex-qualcommers that still hang out in this site.... At some point why not just move on?

It's a big company and mostly a fine place to work. If you find your current role not challenging enough consider looking at IOS for jobs that look more challenging.

When we went into a meeting with Samsung and Samsung advised us how much they hate Qualcomm and that one day Qualcomm chips will no longer be needed and when that day comes the relationship between the two companies would end. I put in my resignation the day after this meeting

decided to leave at age 65. once you turn 50, ageism plays into the equation.

@OP: How old are you? If you are early/mid career you should then look somewhere else. If you stay there without learning anything new you will become stagnant, Qualcomm will either PIP you out or lay you off. You will lose the good income all of the sudden and you will become unemployable due to lack of technical skills. I jumped the boat a few years ago and it was the best decision. I am currently making much more than I was making at Qualcomm, I am learning new skills everyday and appreciated by managers. If you are ambitious then you deserve the best, look for yourself first.

If you don’t have enough faith to bet on yourself and to gain new skills to improve your career outlook - you have already become the definition of a Qualcomm lifer! So yes, you have already made a choice!
