The email this afternoon told me that there is no protection from a$$hats who are not vaccinated and won’t wear a mask.
I work with at least two of these people.
I have asked him directly and they report that they are not vaccinated.
So… What does that say about our values?

I left Emerson last month, and my new company just issued a requirement that all employees be vaccinated. There is no option to be tested. I wish they would have done this when I was at Emerson.
In Mid-September I learned that they let a long-time shop employee go. I’m not confident that I know the exact reason, but I think he had an issue with masks.
At Emerson, masks are PPE.
You get fired for refusing to wear PPE
I’m betting that Management won’t mandate the vaccine even with FDA approval. This company has shown little backbone and much arrogance.
Same in Austin. Masks for all starting 8/23.
A recent email says that everyone (vaccinated or not) is required to wear a mask in our office. (STL)
What about other offices?
Weren’t serious about it when it swept thru the corporate office.
Won’t care Now

They CAN charge more for smokers’ insurance or make non smoking a requirement of employment. Same with BMI.
All the actions you listed are permitted. Unless you’re unionized.
Poster below me said: "People who won't get vaccinated should be denied health care coverage if they end up hospitalized with covid. HIt their pocketbook and suddenly their opinion will change."
By that premise, anyone who eats processed food and/or doesn't exercise and/or drinks alcohol and/or smokes and/or takes pharmaceuticals and/or has stress should be denied health care coverage if they end up in the hospital with any ailment in which these lifestyle choices plays a role: obesity, heart problems, cancer, diabetes, etc etc etc. Hit their pocketbook and suddenly what's in their grocery cart, how many hour they spend sitting on their sofa, in a pub, hours at a stressful job, etc will change.
Health comes down to lifestyle choices. Is it your intent to police all of those, or just the ones you deem "dangerous"?

The study suggests that community mask use by well people could be beneficial, particularly for COVID-19, where transmission may be pre-symptomatic.

Can anyone provide one peer reviewed study showing these mask work? I won’t be getting a vaccine that doesn’t prevent me from getting this virus with a 99 plus percent recovery rate. Obviously the sheep will just follow and the people who can’t think for their self will just continue doing what they’re told. I am leaning more towards the a$$hats being those who just sit back and believe everything the government tells you to believe.
Yeahnah, it’s doesn’t work like that. It is clearly documented the purpose of mask wearing is to prevent infection of others not to protect yourself. If you are not vaccinated and are choosing not to get vaccinated wear a mask.
The burden should be on the unvaccinated to test and mask, not on the vaccinated.
We keep H2S out as a rule. But when it’s in, we test the environment and wear monitors. Respirators are the last line of defense.
Safety training that Emerson has taught us some valuable things. PPE should be the last action taken.
First- Engineer the removal of the risk. Get the vaccine.
Second - Monitor against the risk. Daily or weekly testing for those without the vaccine.
Third - PPE In case the first to measure as a fail. That means everyone wears a mask.
If safety is of value, we treat Covid like any other workplace danger.
If you are really worriec about getting Covid from am unvaccinated person, you can put a mask back on.
