If you weren't already here, would you come to Ford now? I would never do so. Except maybe in case I was desperate. That is why I don't understand those who come here now with great expectations. Do these people do research at all when looking for a new job I wonder. I worked here for almost 20 years and the atmosphere has never been more toxic than it is now.

while I commend your determination, I dont think we can move the needle.....
It is sad but true. Limit the amount of personal information shared with others. It will be used against you when you least expect it. Wish everyone best of luck!
It is just life.
Wolves go after the weak / naive sheep.
They whisper into the sheep’s ears what they want to hear.
Once the sheep are in the company they wise up at different rates.
The strongest and least naive depart quickly.
The weakest try to hide in the middle of the flock their entire career.
No judgement, it is just life at Ford.
I think this website and the commenters are doing a great job of spreading a word about the sad reality of Ford. I for one, have made it my mission to tell everyone I know seeking a Ford job, about that reality. Yes, when I do that some do people look at me and think "Ok, so this laid-off lady is saying that the company that showed her the door is not a good company, big deal". To them I say "PLEASE be my guest, and join Ford". I cannot save your life, but I WILL stand on the road shoulder and tell everyone that the "Ford" road leads to a cliff.
In the last 21 years, I have seen Ford toxicity gradually increase, from mild>medium>bad>worse>now fatal. It is a comatose company for sure!

Ford IS the F150 on my resume, but other companies are Bentleys :).
I agree with OP that Ford has never been more toxic than it is now. Researching a company depends of what you are looking for: some people want to believe the Kool Aid, some people don't care much (after all, it is only a paycheck) and for some people it is a stepping stone (unbelievable, right?).
Is Ford a good company? Definitely no.
Are there worse companies? Heck yes!
Are there better companies? It depends. You could make more money in another company, you could feel better in another company, your work could be more meaningful in another company, you could work harder in another company, but I seriously doubt that another company will pay you as much as Ford for doing so little work.
We have Ford employees running their own businesses during office hours, while getting paid by Ford. This is not something that started with WFH, but I am sure there are more people doing it now. That gives you an idea of how much actual work is done at Ford, and why we keep hiring more people.
If I wasn't already here, I would not come to Ford now. However, even when I am disappointed with the company, I do not regret accepting the position at Ford. It allowed me to do certain things in my life that I wanted to do. My only advice to my younger self would be "don't work so hard. It doesn't make a difference in this company".
Thanks
When I started with company absolutely but now....no way!! Ford is not the same company that it once was and I can not wait to leave.
Ford is still a F50 on your resume. For a lot of people Ford is a huge step up. I worked here for a time and having the Ford name on my resume gave me credibility when applying to other jobs.
When you look to hired kids straight out of college with no experience to speak of....of course they have no idea how to effectively research an employer. Then add Ford's time tested good times gaslight speech they give to new hires, they are sold a bill of goods that takes 3-5yrs until the PR koolaid wears off. For me, after 20yrs knowing what I know would I join? Heck no. Elaborating further, my kids, as well as most of our kids have this knowledge and they had no interest in having ANYTHING to do with Ford OR the automotive industry.
Prior to the 2000’s, Ford was “the” place to work. It really had its hayday. It was a product leader, provided great pay, job security, benefits. Those days are long gone. At this point, I would not recommend automotive in Michigan. Google/Apple/Tesla are the future of automotive. Ford is a dying company. We can see it happen in other industries (example: Sears, malls, rotary phones, etc.). Ford is just dying a slower death.
The problem is that you can't use company review sites. Companies monitor them and when a bad review is posted, it is removed or is 'countered' with 'glowing' reviews of the company. So when you do use these sites, it just happens to be the greatest place to work (eyeroll). The best you can do is ask questions of your interviewer to see their response.
Too bad during the interview process, you could be allowed to talk to random employees to get their (honest?) truth about the job. It'll never happen.
The next best thing, if you can get away with it, is to hang outside their HQ/building that you will work during the end of the work day and approach employees to see if they are willing to 'spill the beans.'
