Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Teradactyl..

I'm fed up with being here, I feel like a dinosaur. I joined a few years ago, out of university. Many of my peers went to work for Microsoft, Amazon and Google - I thought I was making a bold decision. OMG, I was so wrong, I loathe this place and am looking to leave - get me on the first bus out, please.

Whats's wrong - most things, but I so wish that the leadership had a clue, SM, HA all seem to be winging it. I also don't get why we need to bring in all these other people to help us define a strategy - really? That FNG really does not have clue...

Should I leave?

Left several years ago after many, many years of success at TD. The shame of it all was that Uncle Vic and the board decided to bring in execs that knew nothing about the space TD was in, and outwardly flaunted it as a plus (so selling Cisco routers is the same as selling what TD does....?). It was clear to me at the time that culture was changing from one of all hands on deck that drove customer satisfaction, to one of toxicity where the new leaders never visited a customer. In fact, if you were part of TD's past success you were no longer welcome. Many of those leaders are no longer there (and pretty sure some had HR management issues to deal with), but appears that new ones have taken their place. So sad - get out and find something new.

Of course you should leave. You get one shot at a career. You have skills. In 5 years from now when you look back, what do you want that past to be? TDC is a bs-managed company. Take your skills and be successful somewhere where it counts.

I took a 15% pay cut to leave. 2 years later, I just got a 80% raise over my TDC level of pay. Not everyone is going to get that but it's out there. Left to get skills I was never going to get at TDC...and I don't have to deal with the horrible culture anymore

Work-life balance is also high on the list for me. And that was a big 'no'. It varies by department and manager.

Are you getting paid well? Do you like the people you work with? Are you valued? That is how I would make the decision.

I left TD almost 4 years ago. Best decision ever in my professional career. TD became a very toxic place to work. It really s@cks..

I left many years ago, and never looked back. It was such a toxic environment and was so f@cked back then. I can't even image it now, except for the stories I've heard from former colleagues who've either left, or want to leave very badly. They keep asking me for job leads.

You're on a layoff board for this company for a company that isn't doing well.

Why would you stay? If you can find a good reason stay. If not, get out like the other smart people.
