Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

If you were asked to be a supervisor would you say no?

Have you checked only technical in careerconnect? You wouldn’t want to become a koolaid drinking boot li---r would you?

I’m seeing a whole lot of people who would jump at the chance if offered.

I was asked multiple times to consider taking a management role, and I declined each time. I’ve had multiple managers tell me that was career-limiting.

I accepted a 1st line position 6 years ago.
After a year, I realized I much preferred my technical role.
(And I did not want to be slipped into an Advisor role later down the road.)
I explained this clearly and was allowed back into a technical role with more responsibility and self-guidance.
Maybe I was lucky.
But I never should have gone 'management'.
It is not me, at least in EM.

By the way, I have 12 years with the company and looking out for another place.

Someone needs to get their 14 yo to stop posting on the layoff. Like the last 10 posts are the same id--t.

The biggest thing stopping me from accepting is ranking. Especially now with the current bu-----t going on (no hiring + attrition + layoffs -> pool gets smaller, forced to rank good people into NI).

No, because I would be an awful supervisor.

He-l no! System is rigged and if they ever come to their senses they would can most of the chiefs and keep the Indians. The organization is too top heavy now.
