Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Who is advocating returning to the office?

I cannot imagine any honest and normal manager that doesn’t find working from home easier and more productive to the company as well as the employee. So who is advocating the return?
I believe the only ones that find this useful are the managers who survive on micromanagement and taking credit for the work that their employees do.

How could 100 engineers working “world wide” ever fit in the same room to begin with? HR needs better interns responding on here.

I manage a worldwide team of more than 100 engineers at Intel, and do not plan to force anybody to come to the office.
Employee happiness and productivity are more important to me than being able to be in the same room with them.

stay home, COVID is risky business I would quit Intel at any time. Intel doesn't give more bonuses.

What type of jobs you will be more productive working at home than working in office? One case could be you save the hour-long commute daily. Or your work are sustaining types or standalone?

The company doesn't trust you, and you shouldn't trust those who don't trust you either.

The real motivation for a return to the office is to avoid a corporate real estate collapse.

I changed jobs during COVID; power points and weekly meetings are not as good as in person training. This is probably because a lot of learning happens organically which is hard to simulate.

Training can and has been done online, depending on position.

@agn+1byHMa9P: interesting questions. Guess new people would not be up to speed as effectively working from home as in office (with more interaction with coworkers).

Well let's see...managers that like sycophant a$$ kissers, people who would rather politc to get ahead instead of actually producing results and oldsters that just think that that is the way it should be, because they had to do it, so everyone esle should too. The only exceptions I can see are people who's kids are constantly bothering them or other home issues.

Just how many “honest and normal “ managers are left? Don’t forget the brownosers, how will they advance?
