The Federal Aviation Administration intends to propose a new, expanded rule
after learning that a structure concern involving “un-shimmed gaps” in some
Boeing 737NGs is broader than previously suspected.

The agency first addressed the concern in February 2020 when it proposed
An airworthiness directive (AD) that would require US operators to inspect
53 737-700s, 737-800s and 737-900ERs.
Now, the FAA has withdrawn that rule, saying it has received new information
from Boeing about an issue that affects “more airplane models”.

“In addition to identifying missing shims, Boeing has found a wrong type
of shims, shanked fasteners, fastener head gaps and incorrect fastener
ho-e sizes,” the FAA says in a regulatory document dated 24 June.

“The FAA intends to propose new rule making to incorporate changes to
the proposed requirements and add airplanes that are also subject to the
“Unsafe Condition” it adds. The FAA has identified additional model
737–700, –800 and –900ER airplanes, as well as additional airplane models
that are subject to the unsafe condition.”

The Federal Aviation Administration seeks to subject hundreds of additional
Boeing 737NGs to inspections following more reports of cracks in aft
pressure bulkheads.
The agency has issued a proposed airworthiness directive (AD)
that expands on a 2005 order that addressed the same issue,
but in a smaller number of 737NGs.
The 2005 order responded to the risk of bulkhead cracks in 737NGs
with manufacturing line numbers between one and 1,166.

There is not a single program that isn't completely screwed all because of leadership greed,what a bunch of fools and the worst part is that nothing meaningful is being done to fix things. But hey at least they are promoting the woke generation and pride movement that will surely get thing done.

This will be a nightmare for Boeing. They will have to go through and inspect every Fastener, diameter, material and shims. Then where there is a discrepancy do the analysis to show if it’s good. This will cost millions, And damage Boeings reputation more.

This is what you see happen in companies where you have poorly trained employees or inexperienced employees. But a company the size of Boeing it’s excusable. You see better first time quality in a start up company than this. This is the reason why companies used to want experienced employees To avoid these types of mistakes. But Boeing only cares about the bottom line not about the quality.

Also fired was the former procurement official, Darleen Druyun,
who had accepted the job offer.
The scandal also led to the resignation of Boeing’s chief executive.
In 2004 Druyun was sentenced to nine months in federal prison after
admitting that she had lied to prosecutors about approving inflated prices
on contracts awarded to Boeing to enhance her job prospects with
the company. Boeing’s former chief financial officer also pleaded guilty to
a conflict-of-interest charge.

In the wake of the Druyun scandal, Congress barred the Pentagon from
pursuing the aerial tanker deal with Boeing, and in March 2008 it was
awarded to a partnership of Northrop Grumman and Airbus parent EADS.
Three months later, however, the competition was reopened and ended up
back with Boeing.
