Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Another major derailment

PSR strikes again. Yesterday around 2pm the NPPR derailed in Ames Iowa taking out both main lines and spilling Hazmat while putting almost 30 cars on the ground . Locals had to be evacuated. I really hope the shareholders are ok.

PSR the managers love it...so yes they will be blamed for not thinking for themselves and make decisions on their own...managers are puppets

Time for another StraightUP truth article, to tell us how derailments are good for the railroad.

What do you expect the managers to do? They aren’t the ones reporting derailment statistics to the FRA. It’s easy to point your finger and say the managers should push back and not do as they are told by the directors and superintendents. What would happen if they did? Get fired? I have heard some union employees say they would quit if they were managers, but shouldn’t this apply for everyone? Why expect the managers to refuse orders or quit when you are unwilling to do the same? Everyone at this point is just trying to hold on to what they still have and hoping they are not the next to be let go. Put the blame for this PSR catastrophe where it belongs with the board and executives.

Managers the only ones that think derailments are down from previous years abs that’s it’s ok to put the public safety at risk...they see none of the profits but that suck kiss as--s that they will agree with whatever UP does even if it’s the wrong thing to do...more derailments to come the equipment cannot fix itself

They had derailments before psr also, I think we are actually having less derailments than we had 10 years ago

"Hope the shareholders are okay" "the FRA turning head". You guys are awesome and one of the reasons I visit this site. Sometimes the humor and sarcasm is better than the news and rumors. It's the best therapy I've found for working at stUPid.

I’m willing to bet it was a monster train. I didn’t hear much about the derailment they had last week in Wyoming. I’ll bet Hulcher is loving this.

Thats when rules, policies go out the door at a derailment. Managers get threatened to get fired. No courage to care , no take 5 stay alive , no rebriefs , no stop the line , no observations on employees. And all the other tbings they preach about. All there worried about is when the first train is going over. And shareholders.

They don’t care, that’s apparent. The company is operating exactly as they want or they would do something different. Nothing is going to change.
