Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Working from home vs coming in

Folks, if you are forced to come back into the office, you have a very strong legal case to stay working from home, as you have proven you can do it for over a year.

Do not give into the pressure, know you have the upper legal hand.

And no, they can’t lay you off or fire you for not coming in, especially if had a middle of the road or higher rating.

Read your employment offer letter and the job description.

None state you must come into the office. (This is for exempt, non-hourly, employees only).

Exempt employees are paid to do work, if it takes 30 or 60
Hrs per week, the pay is the same, hence why location of work performed is also excluded.

It was always assumed and never stated.

Get educated before saying anyone is d-mb.

As much as I have enjoyed WFH full-time, I know that will soon come to an end. When management wants people in the office, they will get their way one way or another. I have seen multiple people who did WFH for a majority of their time quickly thrown into the layoff queue. Yet they keep the worthless people who comes into the office each and every day.
