Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Can you get used to the new normal?

The new normal is to do work for several people. We used to work a lot before, even too much, but this is now crossing the line. It is physically impossible to get everything done that is required of me.

I thought this kind of pressure was temporary and that it was just a phase, but it turns out that this is the new normal we should get used to. Well, I don't want to get used to it. I gave notice.

Doing more with less has been the normal for the past few years. See it happen in my current job and in most of the stores I cover. Pretty bad when customers come to a third party vendor looking for help just saying. Because the Associate is not available to ring or is cleaning the fitting room or floor

Are you sure that all stores will eventually use this “pilot” format?

Once the pilot program rolls out to all the stores, this is going to be the new culture of Macy's. Be ready folks!

Nope. I see no reason to. The problems in our store are a direct result of poor management and Macy's trying to spread its dwindling workforce far too thin. Our support team is shrinking rapidly because we're being treated like the donkeys. I'm not going to give this company, and especially not the managers, more than they deserve. I'm not interested in getting stuck.

All day it can be backwards. Sales Associates have to do things in their departments that their Sales Managers should be doing because their Sales Managers are working like Sales Associates in depts. that have little or no coverage.
