Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Great One Subsurface town hall on Monday!

There was a great town hall with the One Subsurface EVP (EV)! After the boring prepared highlights, the meeting promptly derailed with the top Menti question on D&I which was fumbled by EV (as per his usual M.O.), and the discussion never got back to the official message.

The do gooders labeled those questioning D&I as "xenophobic", and "racist" in Menti. Even though most D&I push is along gender quotas, and the questions on D&I were rather polite but pointed. The social justice warriors aren't interested in any real conversation, it's all about power and suppression of dissent.

Upvotes of the Menti questions proposing suppression of dissent were high, which seems to indicate that Shell is close to the nirvana of the monolithic social justice obsessed workforce.

The key takeaway - sell your Shell stock, since the company is no longer profit focused, and will continue to spiral down the drain.

D&I/profitless green energy/sell off of core assets - where is any time to worry about making money ?

Wow was that the question! That is a pretty respectful and pertinent questions, particularly in light of layoffs that are occurring. The fact that

a) it could not be answered truthfully and quickly with - ‘No, we always select the best most competent persons first, and use D&I as a guide when making placements guiding the company at a macro level only’ is amazing (even if the answer wasn’t truthful …)
b) that so many people got bent out of shape about it 🤦🏾‍♂️

Racism and sexism is present whenever you use those as a criteria. I’ll wait for the outrage

To add to the subject, top questions:

  1. Do you think competent people are losing out on opportunities and recognition due to emphasis on D&I rather than competency and achievement?
  1. The top question on D&I reveals pervasive xenophobia in Shell. What are doing to stop people disliking D&I based on stereotypes and unfounded fears?

I do recall the same EV skipped some top questions last year - that was an immediate red rag to the crowd. Questions immediately devolved then too.

They usually either avoid answering any Menti, or go in strict order given the unrest it would immediately cause if not in order.

EV is the architect of this One Subsurface nonsense. On his watch several field developments went to sh!t - Stones, Appo, BC10. So now EV wants to address what were really the issues of poor management via the meaningless One Subsurface "unification" . Another !diot empire builder got to power, sigh ...

Menti is used in most North American townhalls, and has been for 4 years now. It is hilarious and frustrating to see the "leaders" constantly skip the top 3 questions which are usually around the same topic. They pretend they are literally blind to any question in the top 3, and only answer the the rehearsed questions only that usually far down the list. Seeing Menti less now, I guess it was getting too obvious.

Until honest leaders come in, which will not happen with the current protected clique, it will continue to spiral downhill. Adios Shell US and Canada.

Shell had achieved the objective to make staff "feel free to speak their mind"! More anonymous Menti's like this so we get to learn what people really think!
