Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Challenge yourself when your job isn't challenging you

Honestly, I’ve been hoping to get laid off for a long time because I don’t want to miss severance pay. In my case, it's now no longer worth waiting for severance pay. Got a very interesting job offer that would be less paid but more challenging.
Here, however, it all comes down to simple, routinized work that totally demotivates me. It seems that this company can no longer offer challenging, engaging work???

Be careful what you wish for with "challenging, engaging work" . Take it from me who's been working at startups for 7 years and would do anything to be in your position.

I know the feeling. I have been hanging out for a number of years, waiting to get the severance. But it just does not seem worth it anymore. Will be looking around for new opps regardless.

"In 1972, a leadership team was sent to prison by a military court
for a crime they might've committed (but you can't prove it!). These
men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Silicon
Valley underground. Today, unwanted by anyone, they survive as
soldiers of self-fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can
help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The B-Team."
