Are some people who work at Macy's masochists? I can't believe that some are considering transferring instead of taking severance. I would jump at an opportunity to get out of here with a package, that would be exactly the lifeline I need to leave this place. Sadly for me, my store is one of the few that are at no immediate risk of closing.

Probably because unless you've been around for a long time, Severance packages don't outweigh losing your job. Depending on the situation, people are getting raises to take jobs at other locations.
I did it just for the health insurance....
