Railroad retirement tier 1 and social security are pretty much the exact same thing. The only difference is you can collect at 60 with 30 years of service for rr.
Not only can you not continue in railroad retirement, your wife or husband or whatever will lose the survivor benefit when you die. So everything you get from rr retirement goes away when you’re dead if you don’t have a current connection to a railroad when you retire. If you’re young leave now and gain another retirement. If you have twenty years in welcome to he-l!
Must be a mechanical supervisor or just a ignorant as----e railroader making fun of a person asking a honest question so you are the re--rd like everyone else that chooses to stay with Union Pacific
After 5 years of service you are vested in RR Retirement. Employer doesn't have choice which system to pay into. When you retire SS will send info to RRB & RRB will administer your retirement check.
5 years your vested call rrb you will get rr retirement even after 5 years.
Hahahaha no re--rd. Enjoy social security if ya make it to retirement.
No. But call rrb or go to rrb.org to verify.
