The Kmart in Freedom/Watsonville, California will be closing in August.
The store will begin liquidation sales on Thursday, June 17 and the store will tentatively close on Sunday, August 22.

Interesting you mention Freedom is only accepting cash because someone on Google reviews has posted a couple of days ago saying Key West isn't accepting cards.
Wow. I was just coming on here to post that the end was likely near for Freedom because they have a sign saying they're only accepting cash, but this explains it.
I'll be up in N. Jersey this weekend and can make a side trip to Avenel. See if I can get any info...
