it's less transparency and more hearing about it at the 11th hour.
also you make the assumption that there's something being hidden, a secret plan. there isn't other than whatever screwball acquisition they're thinking about. the focus is on looking busy, making others look bad, and waiting for next quarter's RSU.
anyways there are plenty of jobs out there. but if you're old or not an A player you're hosed. this place is never going to change. the equity has locked in layers of toxicity at many levels...be very careful who to trust...put an exit plan in place and work it.
as other poster mentions your manager matters more than anything. there are many retreads who came over from a certain "dying" tech firm. and that has set the stage.
