I will be leaving in my own terms this coming July and there is no way on earth. I will never consider selling my dignity once again to satisfy an incompetent and selfish management that only peddles to the next management level in order to survive. Little they know or care to understand the house of cards that Ghawar has allowed them to create. As a good local friend said, this place was once sand and it will become sand once again.
Not a chance. Work environment is far too negative. Money is not my only motivation. Besides, my investments make me as much per annum as my Saudi salary. I am setup just fine.
Without any doubt, I will come back, I have fun doing my job, ideally with same salary but less likely this happens.
I’m aware of people being called back. Simple: If you do good work, they’ll try to keep you. But for me it was all business - make them as much money as possible, make me as much money as possible. We both won.
I didn’t produce powerpoints though. Left that to the saudis and other expats.
Not a chance. Not for a truckload of gold.
I’m not aware of anyone ever being called back. I’m aware of those who reapplied for a position and were accepted back, but that was a long time ago. In the past few years, I’m not aware of any retreads.
Not for my old position and GC. Probably no in any case, since my life circumstances have changed (for the better) now that am back in the West.
Knowing what I know now, I probably would, depending on the position and department. That of course assuming that the offer is far superior to my last salary.
The likelihood of this happening? One in a million.
Call back the retirees under 65. We left on good terms and we know what the job and life is like. Seems like a win/win.
