Thread regarding VMware layoffs

What's current severance?

Does anybody know for certain what the current severance package contains? People keep talking about changes they implemented since the pandemic started (I guess that's as good a reason as any to sc--w us over once again) but I can't find any concrete info on it anywhere.

It hasn't been one month per year for a very long time, like close to 10 years. For the first few years of the Gelsinger layoffs every January, it was pretty common to get two weeks per year. But I think it was lowered to 1 week per year the last couple of go rounds. I don't know of a cap, but that wouldn't surprise me.

Source or Ask HR. In the VMware searchable policy pages are country specific severance policies. Didn't find one for the US though.

It's definitely NOT 1 month per year (unless they got some strange type of golden parachute deal).

Knowing several who have gotten hit over the last few years, it's close to 1 wk/year with a cap of weeks (not sure what the cap is)

You won’t find information about severance as it is confidential and people essentially sign to be quiet. However, from friends that had to go I heard that it tends to be 1 month pay per year tenure + bonus.
