Has anyone heard any new rumors about layoffs? The atmosphere is very tense. I've never been this demoralized and less motivated to work.

i think now the inword is outsourcing , there is chatter on some grps being outsourced.. i dunno how GF is going to do that.
There is different way of layoff by rebadging employees to contractor (Infosys and tcs) , performance improvement plan, voluntary retirement

The new CFO is a scam. While can't deny he spent some years in the semiconductor industry, his previous stint was SELLING INSURANCE after leaving Lexmark hurriedly.

There have been non-stop layoffs every month in small numbers packaged under WorkSmart initiative. Sometimes, foreign employees' visas are not renewed in order to let go of them. Few employees were also forced to transfer to other departments or countries to make them leave.
Imagine last year, GF still not making a profit and only targeting a 3% margin this year. What makes you think GF is able to survive the semicon cycle or any other normal years? IPO is the only way for these Sheiks and top managements with stock options to get out with handsome rewards while screwing everyone else.
