someone told you that Teradata will be acquired soon?
Note: this is not about having any information about someone acquiring a TD or intending to do so, but I am just interested in what your opinions are whether this might be good for this company or if it would be a complete failure?

I’d be stunned, surprised, and wondering what caused them to waste money on a dinosaur.
TDC has not diversified in 40 years. Stuck to one primary product, and let that decay and become legacy. It was great at one time but is now a pig. Renaming it Vantage was lipstick. You can also put high heels on it and color it’s hair and it’s still a pig. Their marketing is horrible but even if it was good it does not change the main issue. That’s why no new customers are buying it. They should fire HA before M.e.
I would have thought it would be easy for you guys in engineering to find another job. You have to take a long look at yourself if you are at a company you think is failing badly. I left 3 years ago and I don't have highly sought after IT skills. Your own negativity will eat you alive.
Oh yay, another attempt by TD execs using a lay off site to figure out the "how to save face" messaging or temperature of the current cluster fu-k they've created for themselves.
How would I feel - shocked. Shocked that someone was willing to dump money down the drain.
More likely a competitor has bribed the board of directors to stack the ELT with incompetent buffoons so they can hasten the demise of the company and scoop up the customers as they flee.
If Vantage is a great product why are 90% of Teradata customers looking to get off the platform and no new customers buying it? And what ISVs have built an app on Vantage? Zero.
Most respondents are living in a dream world. At this point in the company's history Teradata would be acquired for its customer base (not the technology). The few nuggets of tech (e.g., optimizer, fgile system, etc could be picked off and integrated into a different database).
I would feel sorry and amazed at the company buying TD would be about to get ripped off. Very unlikely they know how our product is not as it is sold. Ask Pepsi
I would be fine with it as long as the new company was well respected and there was strong synergy.
vantage is a great product.
This sounds like more fishing from the "strategy consultants".
HA just pulled two more projects last month but they keep it secret. That way they can say they delivered what they promise. Easy to do if you don’t promise anything.
Every 6mo we have projects being made and trashed away. Did we even successfully deliver anything?
If teradata does get bought out, it would be by PE firms and we would be gutted and sold off piece by piece. This is the only route I can see happening.
For anyone still having hopes for this company, don't.
Name one product or innovation that this company delivered in the last 5+ years? Anything major minor ... a tool .. a supporting product ... anything? I can name 10's of projects defunded/reorged/restarted with no value in the same time. What a waste of money and resources .. and what is that they buy exactly 🙄
