Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Is Aramco well positioned for the future?

I still feel very comfortable here, but lately I am thinking more and more often about what the future holds for this company. Many advise me that it would not be bad to think about transitioning skills from O&G to renewable energy job as soon as possible. Still, I love my current job and would love to stay here for a few more years. Do you think Aramco is well positioned for the future?

Anon good one on updating LInkedIn Resume. Trolling LinkedIn and fishing names to submit for "potential" candidates seems to be a new KPI in engineering services at least. Be careful who you connect with on LinkedIn otherwise all of you former real professional contacts are going to start getting bombarded with requests to join Aramco and probably write you off

Hang around and get the loot BUT if you don't already have multiple contingency plans in the work, start developing them ASAP. Get your LinkedIn and resume up to date. Start looking at any potential jobs and seeing if there are any skills gaps that you need and start working an online course or two to fill those gaps.

Good advice. You’re not bringing anything but money and lessons learned on how not to run a business with you.

Just make sure you’re saving your money so that when things fall apart you’re fine. It might fall in 5 years or it might last 30. We all know it will eventually collapse but predicting when is a fool’s errand.

Absolutely nit, IMO. Since the PDP was given the reigns of the company and the State wallet, the company’s financial situation has become precarious. Expats will the first ones to go when the first domino falls. It would be prudent to be looking for new pastures to move to when the eventual happens.
