There is rarely a middle ground. Some companies respect their employees and are doing anything they can to keep them because they know the value of a good (and happy) employee. Other companies couldn't care less about employees and will do their best to cut as many as they can because they only see them as a cost. The moment I can get a job at the first type I'll be leaving Macy's (the best example of the second type) without a second thought.

Macys doesn't care about you , you're family, your pets or you're health.. you are just a number on the screen near a button that says fire.. then there's a button that says low cost bums and they hit that button till its broken.. run at the first chance of a respectful company
Last year they laid off so many experienced happy workers because they made too much per hour and this year they need to hire people for the same positions who are asking for a higher competitive hourly wage than the employees they laid off were making.
