Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

What's up with promotions?

What does a person have to do these days to earn a promotion? Has there been a company-wide freeze or what? I've been promised a promotion nearly a year ago and ever since then nothing happened. Whenever I ask about it I get the old "it's a done deal just be patient" runaround. I'm starting to think that not being related to anybody here and not being a brownnoser has locked me into my position.

It is very sad to read that you believe that "gaslighting" is very common at State Street.
I am not surprised but this happens at many organizations. I have been in the work force for many years and although I no longer work at State Street, I currently work for a small horrible company, where I am earning a small salary and work with many manipulative people at many levels of the organization. This company has a very high turnover rate and no current leaders who know how to lead. Additionally, this small company has been in existence for over 25 years and the only employee's who have worked for more than a few years are a few of the managers.

Sorry to say this, but I won't hope for the best!
I see someone stated " Managers gaslight their employees. " this is exact phrase for current situation.
My case - No hike from last 3 years, worked more than 10 hours almost every day last year (Add late night hours for fixing infra issues due to multiple migrations), can't map the extra hours thus did not get pay for the same.
On the other hand, people who make the calls look like a fish market are getting the visibility!

  • Awesome Managers with Awesome Management Skills :D *

Frustration is high as they keep letting go of resources but they do not reduce the work load.

If only State Street had good managers there could have been some scope of improvement, but clearly that is not the case.

I agree state street needs to start rewarding employees and not the old guard. They’ll regret losing valuable employees to other banks and institutions that promote and give raises.

Budgets are really tight. Law suits, office revamp costs, employees did not leave as the company planned on as part of their fabulous management planning to have employee reduction. Clients leaving..read the financial news.

Wow how ungrateful can you be !!! I bet the thousands of workers who been laid off over the last 15 years would love to have their old job back.

And getting a promotion doesn't keep you from getting laid off either.
