Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

How many people actually still work for this company?

How many people still actually work for this company that actually have experience?

our office is made up from trainees and graduates as no one else will apply for the shocking pay and conditions on offer.
almost everyone with more than 5 years experience has jumped ship with moving away from the industry or to better companies and the dregs we have left with experience no one would want anyway.
Our oil city is now like a 3rd world country with most shops ,bars and restaurants closed or closing down and the only UK city that month on month property prices are falling with some areas down 40% on 6 years ago...

very sad place to live and work

Under 30, experiences are not needed … then your bosses must be under 18 to fit your savvy organization, lol. You are a genius while drinking digital coffee.

Based on real metrics (not the bogus ones shown on PowerPoints), no one is really "working" as far as we know. If they were, BKR would actually turn a real profit!

We have to layoff people and sell divisions for the next two to three years, to afford acquisitions of none oil companies. Drilling technology parts of this company will be sold, spun off, or just closed. This will continue for other divisions as well. It will also happen rapidly and more frequently, we live in a faster world every day. And there will not be a need to transfer employees over.

Of course Baker Hughes will survive, just everything you know this company to be right now, won’t!

our company is a high tech innovator and we dont do the old stuff any more. Its al about tech savvy engineers under the age of 30 years. They have digitally modeled all the work processes and experience is no longer needed. This is the future too for the city. Its been transformed into a global tech green energy hub and the older employees are a bit lost. Oh, and by the way, young tech savvy engineers dont drink in bars hence they are closing down. We hang out in coffee shops with internet connectivity. Aberdeen is becoming more and more like San Francisco in California and the future looks great.
