California Vaccine Pay? Why did we know?

I asked my Manager about how to be paid for time I was so sick after my shot. I was told I had to use my sick pay, but a coworker just got paid four days of some emergency vaccine side effect pay that the state is forcing Macy’s to pay. Why wasn’t I told? How do I get this and my sick time back? Does the state pay us, or the big M? If Macy’s, not fair, sounds illegal to hide this from us!

@rfj+1bdGZSxW, what "sick time" ?
Most Macy's employees don't have any sick time. Just the stores in states with cradle to grave benefits to keep everyone in line.

you should've received an email a couple months back on receiving it. It is also posted under the Covid 19 updates on Insite. Your manager or AST can put in an askhr case to swap over the pto you used for the emergency pay for tine lost after getting the shot. Or you can put in an askhr case yourself requesting it.

My question is why is california special? So nobody in the 49 Other states is getting vaccinated and having side effects and doesn’t needs paid time off to recoup a day or 2?

This shouldn’t count against their sick time in ALL states as well.

It’s a law passed and they owe you, call wage and labor if they won’t pay you. I have been paid over 60 hours of it so far.
