I don't mean to be rude or insensitive, but in case another layoff round is brewing it'd be good to know more about the process itself. Things like how were you notified, is it possible to negotiate your severance package, do you get an explanation on why you were chosen... Just to know what to expect.

I received a phone call stating that there was a Reduction-In-Force (RIF) and I had been selected. On the following day a package was delivered via FedEx with the severance package and instructions. Seems like the HR department has a great deal of experience with the executing a RIF.
