I was recently thinking what would be the best advice someone could give to people who are just starting to work here? What do you think?
"Try to learn as much as you can and run"?
"Don't put in much effort because it's not very valued here"?

You can not learn things in q. If they found you are not able to perform right away, like Mortal Kombat , “you will be the next” to be fired !
If you are studying law - Qualcomm is the place to be… Qualcomm lawyers have won or settle major cases to keep in tact Qualcomm’s outdated business plan and has kept every 2nd rate engineer that can’t create a new product employed.
How do you feel ? Just feel about the beverages in the fridges, Qualcomm don’t even give you enough soda .. although that’s really cheap, you know what I mean. Once a company saves the costs in those kind of things, they will cut their engineers in no mercy
Why don’t you go to Apple if you can?
Depends on what your goal is and what department you work in… if you are an engineer and want to earn top dollar or work with leading edge technology - this isn’t the place. Silicon Valley start ups will actually question why you worked in a company so long that never innovated a new product…. On the good side apple is company to SD and is looking to hire new engineer with chip experience….. so everything depends on what your looking for….
