General Motors (GM) and its subsidiary Cruise, a self-driving car developer, filed a lawsuit on Friday against Ford claiming that Ford’s BlueCruise name was too similar to that of GM’s Super Cruise trademark and Cruise’s trademark.

Well perhaps Farley should behave like a civilized mature human being so he is not a lightning rod for lawsuits. Being a gracious, humble human goes a long way. Look at Mulally, people wanted him to succeed and went out of their way to help him.

Farley said today that Ford has been using "cruise" with the company name since 1958 with Ford Cruise-O-Matic and GM's suit is completely frivolous.

Yeah, as a GM engineer working on ultracruise - and former Ford employee, I can say pretty confidently that the lawsuit is pretty frivolous. It's not like "Cruise" suffix is terribly creative. Technically, "supercruise" is a term used in aviation - yet Boeing/etc hasn't sued GM.

L4 autonomy programs are a money pit with no end in sight. Put your money on L2. Don't believe the L4 hype - ain't gonna happen (Yeah I'm looking at you Argo/Cruise). Autonomy is a tough racket.

Just like our “FordX” group thinks that by adding the X, people might think they are like Elon Musk.

I bet GM did this just to poke Farley in the eye. His irrational hatred for GM is well known. Now it’s out in the press that he ripped off a GM brand name.

No original thought at FMC these days. Anyone with original thought is deemed a threat and blackballed. We work for managers, not leaders. Those guys disappeared when Allan and Derrick left the building.

Hitchhiking on GM’s success. Typical Ford, if you aren’t first, steal it. Steamroll suppliers on intellectual property, why not competitors.
