Hearing that one of the big 3 automakers just bought the Troy Data Center, agreeing to lease a small portion back to Transformco through to end of 2021 with no additional occupancy extensions. That gives Transformco only 5 months to get everything left in production migrated out of their only data center. This should be interesting.

How is the data center deal going? Has Toyota moved into the building yet?
The building and its parking lot are adjacent to the Kmart building and its parking lot. An access road runs through there that could easily be rerouted and the city would jump at the chance to rid themselves of this eyesore. No one is stupid enough to save either, they'd tear them down and build something new.
I had heard a rumor that Eddie had them doing BTC mining at the old Troy data center, can anyone over there confirm ?
I doubt this rumor is true. The Troy DC is off 16 mile, but not close enough to fort kresge to combine, really not useful for much of anything. Also troy has tons of vacant office space already, meanwhile the Troy DC is crumbling (including the parking lot).
They do have a fenced off area on the south side of the building that seems to be warehousing shrinkwrapped pallets of store merchandise for some reason that escapes me.
Ford was using space at the old fairlane mall, maybe even in Sears but this location would make no sense.
Eddie has been trying to get rid of mainframes for the last 10 years. So I suppose he figures if they shut down the DC they will simply go away....must be a fire drill now for I.T. to convert everything over to new platforms. I didn't think they had any money left for new software.... the Troy DC had issues with getting added power into the facility so not sure why anyone would want it.
How is the deal going between the unspecified auto maker and the data center owner?
Maybe Taco Bell will buy the property. Mmmm, late-night chalupa.
Maybe somebody will buy it & turn it onto a "Failed 20th. Century Technology Museum".
Sears no longer sells hammers.
Doubtful anyone wants a small aged data center to use as a data center. More likely someone would want to combine it back with the old Kmart HQ parcel for redevelopment but there's been little progress toward that since Pavilions of Troy got shelved during the Great Recession.
TransformCo will eventually be operated out of a Tuff-Shed in Eddie's back yard. With the volume of data produced by the remaining stores, one clerk with a laptop should be plenty to take care of it. Maybe they can go really "old school" and replace the laptop with a pad of paper. "Today we sold 4 hammers and 6 screwdrivers". When the stores are finally closed, then it's just a matter of collecting a few royalty checks from the buyers of the Craftsman and Kenmore brands. Eddie will have realized his vision of an "asset light" company.
"Oh, what a feeling,Toyota!"
That would be surprising, Toyota's huge tech center is closer to Ann Arbor; I imagine they could find something closer than Troy.
I don't know why anyone would buy the Troy data center anyway, whatever technology that resides there is probably vintage, to put it kindly. And all the OEMs have more office space than they can use right now with many of their people working from home and plans for that to continue permanently. Ford has been selling some of its buildings.
Plausible, it has been up for sale for a while

Yes, all of it is meaningless. Like discussing a horse with 3 broken legs. Wake me up when he gets to the glue factory.
Who cares when some closings are coming of a few remaining stores of an almost finished company. They are meaningless.
And? Let us Know when some closings are coming, this is meaningless.
Who cares what they do with some empty building, of an almost finished company? 🤭
