Thread regarding Ascension Health layoffs

When did everything go wrong?

I used to enjoy doing my job at this company. Now I can’t wait to find a new option. I’m even willing to move for a new job, something that I didn't even want to consider before because of my private situation. I don't understand why a great company was ruined? When did it all go downhill?

That’s when Rocco said…

…”Ascension's future will NOT involve prioritizing its hospital operations, a trend throughout healthcare and one that's lauded by industry experts.”

“As the largest Catholic health system in the country aims to reduce its hospital footprint and trim its leadership structure, it will look for partners that provide care in other settings, such as urgent care, skilled nursing, home health and telemedicine.
It will also focus on growing its ancillary businesses, including its revenue-cycle management, group purchasing and investment arms.”

“Many health systems are taking similar approaches as they cope with a vortex of financial headwinds. Consumers are circumventing hospitals to find cheaper outpatient care and have trouble paying on time or at all when they end up in the hospital. Dr-gs and labor are increasingly more expensive for health systems that are facing lower reimbursement from government.”

So, 2018, when this announcement was made, hospitals like mine were already starving for basic resources. To a point where I began to realize Rocco had not only demoralized me, he had demoralized my colleagues. Because those of us fighting the real battles on the front lines needed resources to do our jobs. Without those resources, we were constantly subjected to scorn from those who assumed we had the required resources (when we did not).

The Roman Catholic Church has disgraced itself by allow this charade to go on as long as it has.
