Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

How many jobless colleagues are left?

Seems after round 2 the only people left jobless in jg3 and lower are those with some powerful enemies. I only see 1 out 20 amongst my surroundings.

Everyone else (even technically weak) seems to have landed somewhere.

What a waste of energy! Whoever arranged this should be fired.

Prior to Deer Park's reorg last year, employees were told that JG4 and above would primarily be impacted. Lie #1. My manager implied that our group would not be impacted. Lie #2. Most of those JG3s and above kept their jobs or were promoted; primary impact was to JG5 and below. Some of those in the upper part of the org couldn't manage a two year old's birthday party much less a refinery. Pemex is in trouble if these are the fools that will be running the place...into the ground.

It seems this Sept round is a "soft" let down. Some unnamed jobs will be available - let the hunger games begin! May the odds be ever in your favour!!!

I work in deep water. 50% of my team still don’t have a job and was told they need to apply again in September. Among them, there are some very high experience people who do good work throughout the year.

The culture definitely took a turn for the worse in the last 5-6 years.

If you focus on delivery - you no longer fit in! How messed up is that?

@1hrh+1bVRSEN4 Same. Nothing you can do. Company doesn’t value results. It’s a company of as-----s licking each other. Take it as a compliment you are out.

you seem to be a great employee for any employer, not necessarily at shell. it is more important to have supporter(s) than not having enemies at shell. All the jobs you have applied were taken by others with more support than you have. belonging to a specific club ( women, church, college etc.) also works

I would like to know who my "powerful enemy" is because I feel I'm fairly competent, but I was left without a job. Over the years I've survived every other layoff, received SRAs, plenty of public and private recognition both for technical and 'soft' contributions, even completed all my competencies for a promotion (before ReShape).

I agree I am in the minority - it doesn't seem like many of my colleagues are in the same position. But it can be hard not to take it personally, since I'm hearing from teams that need more of my discipline but can't get leadership to grant the headcount needed. Why?

I'm not even that expensive (lower JG), and I've saved Shell more money than I could earn in a lifetime.

haha it's either layoff only the competent or don't lay off anyone at all. That is how Shell rolls.
