Thread regarding Optum layoffs

For those about to quit or be fired

Step 1: Take any PTO that exceeds 40 hours.

Step 2: Cash out any balance on your Bravo account

Step 3: Give Bravos to your peers, so they remember you fondly. Don't give so many that your boss becomes suspicious.

Step 4: "Export" copies of work that you are proud of, so you can show it to your next employer. Make sure to get rid on any member info.

Step 5: Consider giving very short notice: The only risk is that you won't be eligible for rehire by any UHC subsidiaries. While the company is large, it is a big world. A world far larger than UHC. In my experience people who give notice are treated like dirt during their notice period by their supervisors. If you feel you have special knowledge that your peers will need, email it to them right before you enter your resignation in the system.

Step 6: Did I forget anything?

If you are a virtual worker, they will send you boxes to return their equipment. If a piece of equipment is not a on the list to put in the box, it is yours to keep.

Corporate propaganda works . just look at the sick loyalty to the corporate overlords. They use their brand loyalty to pay the debt slaves peanuts and let them go left and right with employment at will doctrines. The "boss" is seen as a "friend" "pal" NOT as an authority figure to help build the corporate propaganda and enhance the sick loyality of the US tax and slaves as if they should be so "grateful' for a job. At the end of the day, they're YOUR boss of your life. us capitalism.

Your boss isn't a friend and it's not a "family". You aren't working in a "fast paced environment". You're getting exploited. There's no way for you to accomplish the farcical us marketing term: "American Dream". They're just dangling the carrot in front of you and will pull it away everytime, anywhere. It's false hope folks and intentional to create tax and debt slaves.

Why doesn't the US empire have universal care for all US citizens? Instead of cobras,, schmobras, and other US capitalistic -greed gimmicks?

For health insurance Cobra could be less expensive than going out to the market especially if you are in your 50’s or 60’s. If you are an older worker be sure to follow up with UHG because they will not send you your Cobra package unless you ask for it.

If you are laid off, you have a little time to use your Bravo $. I think I had 30 days.

If you feel layoffs coming, I would add to get all your medical services caught up (colonoscopy, skin check, mammogram, etc) as you will have limited time on your benefits after layoff unless you elect to buy Cobra. Obamacare is a better deal than Cobra but still better to get services while you have your regular coverage.

It has been reported in the news that the CEO made over $52,000,000 last year. Think about that as you get fired/laid off/whatever. All that $ could help the sick and infirm. However, most love vile capitalism. So enjoy.

"A world far larger than UHG" " The only risk is that you won't be eligible for rehire by any UHC subsidiaries"
While UHG is a large company there are new people (Amazon ) emerging that are looking towards advancement, innovation and technology resources. While most PBM'S still use USPS for their free delivery service others are looking towards a more advanced system like drone delivery and the like. They also acquired pill pack which Is so convenient not to mention they are finding ways to cut cost for the customer. They just started out and already they are doing extraordinary things. I hope they expand beyond their pharmacy services. This seems to be the future. So remember don't let other peoples warnings about a company being Huge and having lots of subsidiaries because at the same time theres a lot of great people out there doing great things who I'm sure will be welcoming.

If you are quitting burn ALL your PTO. UHG does not pay out any PTO if you resign.
