Thread regarding Giant Eagle layoffs

Cutting hours

Is it normal for someone to cut the hours from 40 to 14 in one week? I thought something like this could only happen to me, but now I see that there were more people to whom it happened.

I don't intend to stay here for a minute longer than I have to. I was lucky enough to immediately find a new job, but this company will remain a very ugly memory for me.

Giant Eagle has been doing this for YEARS now way before the pandemic became a thing. They started doing this right after Laura Karet took over from her dad and around the time the Great Recession was going on. They never stopped cutting hours even after the economy recovered. I guess with their ridiculous logic, they can recoup that $3 billion they lost by slashing payroll when we all know that’s not the only thing that cost them all them billions, lol!

Very normal with this company. If you can’t live off of 14 hours a week you might want to find a new job with a more stable company
