Some say it’s stuck in the 90s and I totally agree. I don't understand why there is so little will to do something so that it would no longer be stuck in the past? Maybe they don’t have a vision or they don’t have the competence? Admittedly, maybe they just don’t have the will because those at the top don’t see how ridiculous this company has become as we ordinary employees see?

They are stuck in the 90’s because that is the last decade Giant Eagle was the dominant grocer in its are. They believe if they keep doing what they did in the 90’s they will be successful again. When it comes to employees they keep doing the same thing with employees as they did in the 90’s. They haven’t done anything in the last 20yrs to make working at Giant Eagle more attractive to new hires. Most companies are giving employees more time off. Not Giant Eagle. Most companies who employ salary employees have gotten away from making a salary employee work 50 and 60 hours a week. Not Giant Eagle.
Look at the yearly Christmas Gift card they give employees. In 1996 they changed the denominations to $25 for full timers and $15 for part times and it’s been the same ever since.
It’s definitely a company that time has past by.
