The company spent the past 20 years cooking the books through financial engineering, including buying back 100's of billions of dollars worth of stocks. In that time, they've had ~2 quarters of actual growth.

How can anyone take a single quarter of good financials as an indication of anything? This is just a financial set up, for the massive layoff that's going to hit in August (I know dozens of people who already know they are on the list).

I am big fan of people who comment about "bruh", grammar or blame immigrants/young people etc.

I can spot loser boomers who come here to crib

I'm a big fan of the word "bruh".

It makes it very easy to identify posts that should not be taken seriously - whether or not that was the poster's intention.

Have you executed your Buy order? If you are that confident, open a margin account.

Those who celebrate this miserable rise in the stocks are the losers who will be stuck jobless when the company goes belly up.

Bruh this is sarcastic post.

I know that earnings aren't that good because they didn't even take in the cost of acquisition when displaying eps of 2.33 or something. This quarter ibm spent 1.75B so it's huge.

That being said, it could have been much worse and if you're so worried about layoffs then go interview. Job market has never been hotter!

What is so brilliant ? Revenue is flat, adjusting for currency effect, versus a miserable Q2 2020. Wait and see what competition will do. Net income is lower than last year and $200m shorter than dividends paid this Q, meaning the company is selling its jewelry. Goodwill is increasing by $2B, further deteriorating the quality of assets, etc...

Bruh, i got RSUs, can't wait till it hits $175. To infinity and beyyyonnnnd.
For real, these boomers and old-timers are so negative. Even if IBM posts good/decent $ they just want it to fail because they are so miserable and bitter about their work lifes that us young'ins are taking over. It's how the world works grumpy old men. Evolution.

I don't get paid in stock like the executives so what do I care? You know RAs are still coming.

This is not the best qtr in three years. In Q2 2018 we had profit of $2.4b with revenue of $20b. In Q3 of 2018 it was even higher. Now the profit is $1b less and revenue is $1.5b less, all in a growing and expanding market.

RAs will happen whether IBM does well or not… this quarter was not great, and the beat was easy because it is a compare with 2Q 2020 which was bad because of COVID. There is nothing to gloat about… just wait to see what Amazon and Microsoft reports… their growth will be in high double digits! At the end of the day IBM still sucks big time and I don’t see much traction…

Just to be clear 3% growth, and less profit by 50% compared to only 2 years ago IS NOT a reason to go gaga over the results

I can here to see the inevitable negativity after the stock rose because it’s just funny to see how miserable people are determined to be. Just a bunch of old bitter old boomers, lmao.

I said it before 10 posts ago about Q2: IBM will be valued at $176 in the next year. The problem with this site is the majority of people want IBM to do bad. They hate themselves and their lives so they anonymously post their wishful absurdities.

GBS certainly did well, especially compare to the past. Hope this is a sustained turning the corner event and not another head fake. Sick of RAs.
