Does anyone know if we will have to sign a severance agreement next month which waives our right to sue for wrongful termination?

Yes, you will have to sign a severance agreement if you want your severance package. In that agreement, you promise not to sue them, hold them harmless, not disparage Ascension, etc. and if you do, you promise to return the severance package to them and if you don't return it, Ascension will come after it. Now then, if you have been wrongfully terminated based on race, color, religion, s-x (including pregnancy, se-ual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age (40 or older), disability, and/or genetic information (including family medical history,) you can probably still sue them even after you sign that agreement (consult an attorney.) Beyond that, keep in mind that in most of the states that Ascension operates in, employees are considered to be "at-will" employees meaning that the employer can terminate you for any reason or no reason at any time and they don't have to tell you why. Employees can also quit at any time for any reason or no reason...
