After this role was created in 2017/2018- it now turning 100% technical requiring Level 300 knowledge and only increasing from there. I've heard in the States - mgmt just made judgement calls and fired the people they thought couldn't do it. Other places made employees have to interview for the roles. Growth mindset indeed!

They are likely doing this because of customers complaining about Customer Success Managers being incompetent to help them. I would think in this role you would need to be extremely technical.
I am in customer success and I have not heard this or seen this.
